Dues Breakdown

The Kiwanis Administrative year runs October 1 through September 30.

By the vote of the delegates at the recent KI convention, dues were raised by $25 per member. 

New breakdown:

$ 77 = Kiwanis International

$   8 = Kiwanis Magazine

$ 22 = insurance: members, directors/officers, risk management

$ 46 = district dues

$ 22 = club retains this amount [club dues]

Benefits of membership in KCNO:

Since 2016, the Kiwanis Club of New Orleans has had success with our “Participation Credit Dues System,” in that members receive credits ($25 each) for active participation throughout the year by attending meetings, projects, donating, sponsoring new members, sponsoring the cost of dues for new members, and participating in fundraising campaigns during the year. These participation credits offer members a way to reduce their dues. With these participation credits, our membership has grown 3-5 members each year, while we saw other members drop their membership for various reasons. There are currently 25 members in the Kiwanis Club of New Orleans.

During the August 2024 board meeting, the Board of Directors voted to increase the participation credits for dues from 4 credits to a maximum of 5 credits, at $25 each. The credits can be earned, for the NEXT administrative year (2024-2025):

• Attend a minimum 12 club meetings
• Volunteer at a minimum of 12 projects
• Bring in a minimum of 1 new member to the club
• Sponsor the cost of membership for a new member ($175)
• Participate in any fundraising campaigns for either the club or the Youth Foundation

There is a $25 minimum donation for each fundraising event, during the admin year, for a maximum of 1 credit, per event. This includes: Pampered Chef, Dine-Out for Kiwanis, Give NOLA Day, general donations, etc.

With dues being $175, active participation credits could give you up to $125 reduction in dues for your NEXT Kiwanis year, effectively allowing you to pay a minimum of $50 as a member of the Kiwanis Club of New Orleans!

For those with life membership status or reduced dues as a Former Sponsored Youth, their minimum for club dues would be $25.

New members are pro-rated by KI & District, and are calculated at $14.50 per remaining month. For example:

New member joins in December, with 10 mos remaining in the Kiwanis administrative year, at $14.50/per month, totaling $145

KCNO Participation Credits begin accumulating as soon as they join, and are deducted from NEXT year’s dues.
